t i t l e: Ralph
m e d i u m: school desk, stuffed monkey, condoms,
Rock Star Energy Drink can, wood dowels, Judy Blume book Forever

The piece speaks to the sexually charged casual relationships of today's teen where sexual intimacy is non-committal and often an extension of group friendships. The monkey offers dual symbolism referencing the innate and uninhibited sexual drive while simultaneously referencing innocence and youth, a stuffed animal likely found on the bed of teenage girl. The bouquet of condoms springing from the Rock Star Energy Drink can also speaks to both sexual maturity and youthful naivety. The Judy Blume book references the seminal book of “coming of age” through teen sex. When first published in the 70’s it stirred outrage and remains today the most banned book in school libraries. The title of the piece is named Ralph, the same name the teenage couple nicknames the boy’s penis in Forever.
